Submitting over than 100 entries across seven categories and from more than 19 countries, a record number of entries has been received for this year’s 10th anniversary ITA Tunnelling Awards.
In order to celebrating the highest of achievements for 2024, projects for road, rail, metro, hydro, water, and underground space, join entries for technical advancements, engineering initiatives, and the young engineers who are the future of the industry.
A shortlist of three finalists per category is due to be identified by a panel of 20 judges and from these, a second round of scoring will result in an overall winner for each category.
On November 28 ,Genoa, Italy, will host this year’s awards, in conjunction with the two-day Italian tunneling congress organised by the Italian Tunnelling Society. The joint events are a continuation of the ITA’s 50-year anniversary celebrations. The final day includes a technical site visit to the Terzo Valico dei Giovi highspeed rail project.
This year the Major Project of the Year (over €500m) category has attracted 12 projects from eight countries; Project of the Year (€50-€500m) 16 entries from 11 countries; Renovation Project of the Year seven entries from five countries; Technical Innovation of the Year 17 entries from 10 countries; Product/Equipment Innovation 19 entries from 10 countries; Beyond Engineering five entries from four countries; and Young Tunneller of the Year 25 entries from 16 countries.
