Through acquiring a majority stake in H Anger’s Söhne Bohr- und Brunnenbaugesellschaft, Herrenknecht has strengthened its portfolio of automated drilling rigs and equipment.
In order to excavating several challenging geothermal wells, the Hessisch Lichtenau-based drilling contractor is well known, as the company says.
CEO Dr -Ing Martin Herrenknecht said: “The move provided an ideal addition to our product range in the field of automated drilling rigs. We will use the shared entrepreneurial and engineering DNA to drive forward the heat transition and simplify access to natural resources.”
Considering that Germany aims achieving 50% carbon neutral heat generation by 2030, Geothermal energy is the key solution for this goal and this plan will increase demand for new drilling rigs, equipment and drilling services.
Almost 150 people are recruited by H Anger’s Söhne Bohr- und Brunnenbaugesellschaft mbH, which is specializes in drilling geothermal wells to depths of up to 7,000m. It also undertakes projects for reservoir and subsurface investigations, and drinking, mineral and thermal water.
