The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has given the green light to the 59.4km extension project for the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
The new Tarlac-Pangasinan La Union Expressway (TPLEx) extension will operate from Rosario town to San Juan, a critical tourist destination, upping its total length to 148.61km.
As reported, the new link will deliver a faster connection for Rosario and San Juan municipalities, feature two lanes in either direction and cost an envisioned US$420.15 million, taking five years to complete.
The Department of Finance (DOF) has funded the four-lane expressway project, which will be implemented via a public-private partnership (PPP) under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
In a recent briefing, Arsenio Balisacan, NEDA director general, stated: “The NEDA Board has approved the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway or TPLEX Extension Project.”
He added: “In accordance with the Investment Coordination Committee guidelines, this is the fastest unsolicited proposal approval, from its submission on March 17, 2023, to the approval today, June 2, 2023.”
