Using the traditional method, Bouygues Travaux Publics teams brokethrough in the second tube of the Ucka tunnel on the Istria motorway with 5.6km length on September 18, 2023, that marks the end of the excavation work. The location of this tunnel is between the municipality of Vranja and the Bay of Kvarner, and is due to have two lanes in both directions, providing easier access to the Istrian peninsula.
The present persons in this ceremony were; Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković, President of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, Croatian Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, and Minister of Construction, Branko Bačić, as well as Jean-philippe Trin, Deputy CEO of Bouygues Construction and Chairman of Bouygues Travaux Publics, and Bertrand Burtschell, CEO of Bouygues Travaux Publics.
In order to enabling the link between Pula and Rijeka with a full-width motorway, the final phase of the Y Istrian Motorway was about the alteration of the last kilometres of the current Y Expressway into a motorway and the construction of the second tube of the Učka Tunnel.
