ECRL Project in Malaysia Update

East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Train

Involving construction works in four states, namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Selangor, the construction process of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project with 665 km length has recorded overall progress of 28.57 %.

Determined date for totally completion of this project is December 2026, while it will be fully up and running in January 2027 with a 5.6 million passengers a year target for passengers.

For Kelantan the ECRL alignment is 43.86km and the advancement of infrastructure works has attained 21.58 % and the land acquisition process for the main part has been fully completed. In May, the construction work of the twin bore Genting Tunnel from Pahang to Selangor with 16.39km length is due to commence. After complicated installation and testing for several months, the TBM is ready to start.

The estimated time period for Genting Tunnel digging process involving 10km in Pahang and another 6 km in Selangor is 2.5 years with a productivity rate of almost 400 to 600 m per month.
