Involving Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Budhwar Peth, Mandai, and Swaragte underground stations, the PCMC to Swargate Metro line with 6km length underground tunnel system commences from Shivajinagar.
On 14 Jan 2022 the excavation process between Swargate and Shivajinagar for the Pune Metro attained Budhwar Peth, while the determined date for completion of whole underground tunneling is March 2022.
In order to provide a safe condition, the beneath ground section comprises two tunnels, one for coming and the other for going.
Until March 2022, the remained tunnel among Mandai and Budhwar Peth is due to be completed.
According to Maha-Metro managing director Brijesh Dixit: “The underground stretch is a very challenging and crucial part of the Pune metro project. Since the tunnel work is nearing completion, further work in the underground section has begun. The overhead equipment and signaling-related works have started.”
Dixit added: “Maha-Metro is trying to complete the entire underground stretch by December 2022.”
