Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel – TBM Mary’s Factory Acceptance Ceremony

On 6^th of May 2021 the Herrenknecht Deutschland facility at Germany hold the Factory Acceptance Test ceremony for the 14m diameter TBM Variable Density, named Mary. Click here and  here for two videos.

This is a significant landmark for the HRBT Expansion Project, the largest highway construction project in Virginia’s history and one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the US at the moment. Construction of the intended new twin tunnels, which are going to double the usual traffic capacity, is responsibility of the Hampton Roads Connector Partners (HRCP) joint venture, comprised of Dragados USA, Inc./VINCI Construction Grands Projects/Flatiron Construction/DODIN CAMPENON BERNARD.

The HRTAC (Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission) have funded this project and VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) is eager to have a continued partnership with this commission and with the design-builder Hampton Roads Connector Partners.
