AECOM added two new members to its Canadian team

AECOM, the Global infrastructure consultancy has added two new international tunnelling experts to its Vancouver practice.

Mike Mains, senior tunnel design lead, and Roberto deMoraes, director of tunnels, have met the Vancouver tunnelling team.

AECOM director of tunnelling and underground engineering in the Americas, Nasri Munfah, commented about this addition: “The addition of Roberto and Mike to our tunnelling practice strengthens our team’s ability to meet the growing demand for innovative solutions and the latest technologies for tunnelling and underground structures in cities across Canada. In addition to their skills, each brings broad international expertise and best practices gained from working on major projects across the globe.”

Mike is a chief tunnel engineer with over 10 years’ international experience. He has experienced working in the Australia, France, Canada and US, and is a specialist on large-diameter TBMs and sequential excavation. His project experience contains WestConnex M4 East Highway, Australia, the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct Rehabilitation, California, and the Grand Paris Express, France.

deMoraes is a tunnelling and geotechnical engineer with over 26 years’ international experience in underground structures and tunnels, who has been worked globally on great and well-known projects like Norway’s Follo Line, Dubai Storm Water Tunnel, Metro Manila, and the Devoll hydropower scheme, Albania.
