WSP, Global engineering services provider, has declared that it has entered into an agreement to get Ontario-based GA (Golder Associates), a leading earth science and environmental services consultant with globally-respected tunneling expertise.
A further manifestation of WSP’s meteoric development, the declaration follows a string of high-value engineering acquisitions made by the company in recent years, comprising LT Environmental (2020), Berger Group (2018), Opus International (2017), Mouchel Consulting (2016), and Parsons Brinckerhoff (2014). As a consequence, the move will see the company’s global workforce rocket to 54,000, cementing its place as a global leader in environmental consulting and engineering.
Golder Associates is no longer strange to tunneling: recent high-profile tunnel consultancy work comprises Tuen-Mun Chek Lap Kok Link – Northern Connection Subsea Tunnel, Hong Kong; the Riverside Stormwater Interceptor of Saint-Lambert, Quebec, Canada; Stockholm Metro extension, Sweden; Finsbury Park Station, London; Melbourne Metro; Sydney WestConnex M8 tunnels; and a submersed tunnel in Gothenburg, Sweden.
“[It]… ideally positions WSP to capitalise on the rapidly-growing ESG [environmental, social and governance] trends driving demand for environmental services and sustainable infrastructure development,” said Alexandre L’Heureux, WSP President and CEO.
He also asserted: “This acquisition directly contributes to the realisation of the goals we laid out in our 2019-2021 Global Strategic Plan and is expected to contribute to both strategic growth and value creation for many years to come.”
It is expected to have the acquisition completed by the spring of 2021
