The digging process of the first main line tunnel for the Hanoi Pilot Light Metro Line 3 project has been completed.
Following completing a 4km drive and installing 1,720 segments, TBM Than Toc (Speedy God) that is operated by Ghella, broke through at Station S12 (Hanoi Station).
With a 6.6m diameter, this Herrenknecht TBM is more than 100m long and weighs around 850 tonnes.
While over than 70% of the line 3 is currently been completed, a second TBM ,Tao Bao, is now advancing toward Station S11.
As Hanoi’s first underground metro line, the Pilot Light Metro Line 3 is 12.5km-long line and links Nhon, located in the Tay Tuu neighborhood of Nam Tu Liem district, in western Hanoi, to Hanoi Station. It consists of 8.5km of elevated tracks, 4km of underground tunnels and the construction of four underground stations: Kim Ma Station, Cat Linh Station, Van Mieu Station, and Hanoi Station.
