With attendance of representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications and the Santiago Metro, the ceremony of breakthrough of the future metro Line 7 of Santiago in the Parque Araucano area was held on the morning of Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Using the NATM method, tunnel excavated at a depth of 40 m between the shaft at the intersection of Av Manquehue Norte with Cerro Colorado and the future station at Parque Araucano, which is at the intersection of Cerro Colorado and Rosario Norte, in the municipality of Las Condes. While among 23 planned breakthrough for Line 7 between March 2024 and the second half of 2026 this is the second one, the first breakthrough took place on March 5, 2024 between the shafts of the future Baquedano L7 station and shaft n. 10 near the ex Café Literario, inside Parque Balmaceda, in the Providencia municipality.
Already achieving 19% of the tunneling process, 5 km of tunnels have been dug so far for Line 7, which is due to serve over 1.5 million people in the municipalities of Renca, Cerro Navia, Quinta Normal, Santiago, Recoleta, Providencia, Las Condes and Vitacura.
Including 19 stations, the new route of Line 7 of the Santiago metro will be 26 km long and the scheduled date for its inauguration is 2028.
