As one of the main connections between east and west, for constructing Norway’s fourth longest road tunnel, the single-tube 12.4km Roldal tunnel on the E134, the following six contractors have asked to be prequalified:
- AF Gruppen Norge AS
- The Joint Venture Bertelsen & Garpestad AS and Metrostav Norge AS
- Haehre Entreprenør AS
- The Joint Venture Implenia Norge AS and TT Anlegg AS
- Itinerary SPA.
- The Joint Venture Leonhard Nilsen & Sonner AS and Obrascon Huarte Lain, SA
Currently the documents from the tenderers are under review by the project to see if they meet the qualification requirements, whereas the next step is an evaluation and ranking based on the documentation they have provided, before three to five of the contractors who are the best qualified go on to the next phase.
Design and construction of 1.7 km of new road at Liamyrane by Roldal, 1.2 km of new road in Seljestad, as well as a pedestrian and cycle path of almost 0.7 km, a new tunnel between Liamyrane and Seljestad of approximately 12.4 km replacing the existing Roldal and Seljestad tunnels, various constructions in connection with the road system, are the contents of this contract.
The scheduled date for commencing competition and negotiations is the autumn and in line with the overall goal of striving for emission-free construction sites, one of the guidelines in the project description is that the contractor must use a significant amount of electric machinery in its operations. With good access to a developed power grid in the vicinity, conditions are favourable for electrical construction operations.
While Spring of 2025 is the planned date for concluding th contract, construction will start in the summer of 2025 and determined date for inauguration is 2031.
