Chennai Metro Project – Kaveri TBM Tunnels Under Adyar River

Considering that on December 30, 2023 the TBM Kaveri successfully entered the Adyar River and indicated the first-ever metro tunnel beneath its waters, the Chennai Metro project celebrates a major feat. Linking the Greenways Road and Adyar Junction stations, this breakthrough will boost city connectivity.

The launching station of Kaveri in February 2023 was Greenways Road Station in Corridor 3 contract TU02 between Kellys and Taramani of Phase II Chennai Metro Rail Project, while TBM Adyar is its partner and follows closely at 250 m and is due to join within 20 days. Both machines will tunnel under the DB Road and the iconic Thiru.Vi.Ka. Bridge, reaching Adyar Junction Station.
