Larsen & Toubro (L&T) achieved a first breakthrough for its DZ1123 tunnel boring machine at Kishangarh Station’s Crossover for Delhi Metro’s 23.622 Km Silver line.
The TBM was launched in April 2023 from Chhattartpur station’s west end to construct a 1274 m tunnel for the down line in 8 months. Surprisingly, it is the 2nd breakthrough for the Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 project.
Package DC-09
Package DC-09 runs from Kishsngarh to Saket-G Block, a distance of 6.51 kilometers. It operates on four tunnel boring machines deployed by L&T (Larsen & Toubro). It was granted to L&T in March 2022 at an evaluated cost of Rs 1428 Crores, to be finished within a deadline of 42 months or 3.5 years. Meanwhile, JICA is funding the Package through a Rs 8,390 Crore ODA loan with the same deadline.
This package has four stations in between:
- Chhattarpur,
- Chhattarpur Mandir,
- IGNOU, and
- Neb Sarai
It incorporates the design & construction of twin tunnels (for both up and down lines) employing Shield Tunnel Boring Machines, a Cut and Cover Tunnel box, an Underground Ramp, and the establishment of four Underground stations, namely Chhattarpur, Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU, and Neb Sarai.
In addition, the project includes the creation of entry/exits and linking subways connecting Aerocity to the Tughlakabad Corridor as part of Phase-IV of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System.
The Delhi metro silver line of the Delhi Metro drives from Delhi Aerocity to Tughlaqabad. It is a 23.62 Km long line with four elevated & 11 underground stations. It has a total of 15 stations, which are Tughlakabad, Tughlakabad Railway Colony, Anandmayee Marg Junction, Tigri, Khanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Saket G Block, Saket, Lado Sarai, Mehrauli, Kishangar, Masoodpur, Vasant Kunj (Sec-D), Mahipalpur and Delhi Aerocity.
