Early days of April 2023, was the date that NCRTC attained its first tunnel breakthrough for the Delhi section of the Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut RRTS corridor. The TBM Sudarshan 4.1 made the breakthrough from the tunnel retrieval shaft constructed at Khichdipur, Delhi.
In order to constructing the RRTS tunnels between Anand Vihar and Khichdipur, the first TBM of the Delhi section, Sudarshan 4.1, was lowered at the Anand Vihar launching shaft in January 2022. As the longest tunnel in Delhi, this RRTS tunnel has been made by any TBM and is around 3 km long.
