NCE Tunneling Festival Awards Deadline has been Extended

Tunneling Festival Awards

Now, innovators and tunneling projects in the underground sector have one more month to put together their award-winning entries for this year’s New Civil Engineer Tunneling Festival Awards that is supported by Ground Engineering.

After receiving calls from the tunneling industry regarding more time to complete the entry process, the deadline has now been extended to 13 August 2021.

“There are 14 enterable categories spanning industry initiatives, projects, innovation, and people that have been created to allow the tunneling sector to celebrate its achievements on both completed projects, as well as those still underway and the teams who are key to their successful delivery,” stated Claire Smith, New Civil Engineer editor.

She also asserted: “The last 16 months have been challenging for the whole of the construction industry, but the tunneling sector has really done itself proud in getting back to work safely despite the challenges of the pandemic and getting projects back on track – the awards aims to celebrate the spirit that drove that success.”

Judges who are going to review the entries contain United Utilities principal geotechnical engineer Pam Rigby, High Speed 2 lead engineer Colin Rawlings and Transport for London major projects directorate Andy Swift.

The primary phase of judging results will be announced with the publication of the shortlist in mid-September. The winners will be announced at a gala award ceremony on 8 December at the Leonardo Royal London Tower Bridge, which will follow on from a full-day conference focusing on future trends, best practices, and case studies.
