Following that preparatory and enabling works were completed ahead of schedule, construction of Vietnam Electricity’s Bac Ai pumped storage hydropower project is undergoing.
The date of commencing construction of the project’s main works package, the underground power plant, was January 22.
Building of the access roads, excavation of open foundation pits for major works, as well as excavation and support for five adits was completed by contractors in preparation phase.
January 2025 was the date of completing excavation and structural support for the electrical cable tunnel and ventilation tunnel.Also in previous year earthworks for the planned 500kV distribution substation achieved a volume of 145,000m3, representing 144% of the annual target and approximately 90% of total volume.
While the inauguration of the 1,200MW power plant in Khanh Hoa Province is due to be in phases, December 2029 is the scheduled date for starting the first of the four units generating power and the final unit in December 2030.
