Following that the drive has advanced and the project team has optimised operations, digging on the CIDCO Water Tunnel Project in Mumbai has increased.
While the T83B open TBM of Terratec has been supplied for this project, in early 2025 production rates rose firmly as the company says and culminated in July with 752m excavated in a single month. The achievement was acknowledged publicly by the project leadership and has been celebrated as a national record for a water tunnel drive using a single rail track and two mining locomotives.
Considering that T83B has proven well suited to the geological conditions of the alignment, with its cutterhead configuration, ground support systems, and operational flexibility contributing to reliable progress rates throughout the drive,Terratec says the strong performance reflects the integration between its machine design and the contractor’s tunnelling methodology.
With the aim of further boosted productivity through disciplined logistical planning and effective co-ordination across shifts, the project team has supported at all stages by Terratec’s field service engineers.
