Commencing an Event for Clearwater TBM

Conserving the local waterways by addressing an aging infrastructure, is the major purpose of the Clearwater project. The project consists of a new 5.5 m (18-foot) diameter tunnel. which is constructed by TBM and aims to convey treated water from the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in Carson to existing ocean outfalls at Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro.

The determined event date for introduction of the intended TBM, is on April 15, 2021 at 10:00 AM -10:30 AM PDT (7:00 PM – 7:30 PM CEST) – Zoom ID 846 4982 9834. Moreover, a 15-minute virtual tour will be offered immediately following the event.

The winners of the TBM naming and art contests, has been announced in December 2020. The winning name is Rachel after Rachel Carson, who is the author of the book Silent Spring that is credited with sparking the global environmental movement. The aimed group for the art contest, were students who were asked to present original artwork that shows why it is significant to keep our rivers and oceans clean.
