While the Institution of Civil Engineers in London on March 21 will host the Harding Prize Lecture, the three finalists for this year’s Harding Prize will present their papers at the British Tunnelling Society’s (BTS) March meeting.

This year’s finalists are:

  • David Maddison: The design and construction of complex offshore structures. The Hinkley C tunnel to shaft connections
  • Christopher Hewett: The construction of large diameter shafts within challenging ground conditions
  • Sam Huckle: Tunnel d’Yvoir – When tunneling becomes a passion project

As the founding chairman of the BTS, the Harding Prize competition is named in honour of Sir Harold Harding and it is open to young engineers aged 33 or under.

An original paper submitted for the competition must address aspects of tunneling of interest to the tunneling industry, with the winning paper selected by a judging panel.

The time of commencing meeting is 18:00 (GMT +1). It can be attended in-person and will also be streamed live here.
