In order to providing live images for the public, an EarthCam has been installed on the Tonnelle Avenue Bridge and Utility Relocation Project by the Gateway Development Commission (GDC).

Including the relocation of utilities and the construction of a new roadway bridge for Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, New Jersey, these works are a major early work component of the Hudson Tunnel Project.

As part of its commitment to public engagement, GDC has installed the panoramic camera, whereas the feed can be accessed on the GDC website, providing daily updates of construction progress, it also is slated to release time lapse footage during construction.

In a joint statement, GDC commissioners said: “The EarthCam was an important part of meeting the organisation’s responsibilities to the public. We are excited to offer this window into our work and look forward to continued collaboration with all stakeholders as we advance the vital Hudson Tunnel Project.”

Presenting a chance for a link to the new Hudson tunnel portal at the western slope of the New Jersey Palisades, providing construction access between the staging sites on either side of Tonnelle Avenue, as well as enabling access to the entry point for the TBMs that will dig the Palisades Tunnel portion of the project, will be the advantages of the Tonnelle Avenue Bridge and Utility Relocation Project.

The date of commissioning work on the Tonnelle Avenue Project was November last year, marking the start of construction on the Hudson Tunnel Project in New Jersey, while the scheduled date for completing this section of work is autumn next year.
