Final Leg for Two TBMs on the Broadway Subway Project

Stretching from VCC Clark Station to Arbutus Street, Millennium Line in Broadway Subway Project Corporation (BSPC) is developing. The 700m of elevated guideway extending west from the existing VCC-Clark Station, 5 km of underground tunnel, and 6 new underground stations (Great Northern Way-Emily Carr, Mount Pleasant, Broadway-City Hall , Oak-VGH, South Granville and Arbutus Station), are the contents of Project scope.

The date that TBM Elsie departed the future South Granville station was last March 5, whereas it was arrived there on 8 February.

The location that TBM Phyllis has broken through on 20 December 2023 was South Granville Station and on 2 February commenced boring for the final leg of the Broadway subway project to the future Arbutus Station at Cypress Street.

Last year the TBM Elsie broke through the future Oak-VGH Station on October 28, 2023 following the TBM Phyllis arrived on October 12.

The process of routine maintenance of both TBMs was done after every section driven. The daily performance of TBMs is 18 m and the determined date for outbound and inbound tunnels to be ready for systems is next spring and summer respectively. The Broadway Subway is scheduled to open in 2026.
