Başakşehir Kayaşehir Metro Line_ Inauguration was done on 8th April

Indicating that inauguration of the Başakşehir-Kayaşehir Metro line will strengthen the power of the Istanbul urban rail system network, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said: “We will take a new breath in order to reduce the traffic congestion in Istanbul city traffic and to facilitate the lives of our citizens.”

According to the press statement of Karaismailoğlu about the Başakşehir-Kayaşehir metro line, successfully completion of this project caused a new mega project for Istanbul.

“Our giant works that we have brought to the four corners of Turkey at the same time; as it serves the comfortable transportation of our nation; It also provides the infrastructure of a great and powerful Turkey, on which the Turkish Century will rise. In this context, only in Istanbul; Giant projects and investments that the whole world envy, such as Marmaray, Eurasia Tunnel, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Northern Marmara Highway, Istanbul Airport, Istanbul-Izmir Highway, Istanbul-Ankara High Speed Train Line, Pendik-Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport subways. We have successfully completed the project and carried Istanbul to a completely different point beyond dreams with its modern transportation infrastructure. We have increased the quality of life of Istanbul residents and turned Istanbul into a very valuable brand city,” he said.

In order to decreasing the traffic congestion in the city in Istanbul and making the life of the citizens easier, this Metro line is due to present a new breath.

Karaismailoğlu said: “The most important way to eliminate the traffic problem, especially in our big cities, in parallel with the increasing population and the number of vehicles, is to expand our rail systems. At this point, as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we have implemented very important urban rail system projects so that the lives of our citizens living in big cities do not turn into a nightmare, and we continue to make new ones. We equip Istanbul from one end to the other with modern rail system networks. The Marmaray Project is one of the most important indicators and concrete steps of our country’s global vision in recent years. This project, which provides uninterrupted transportation from Beijing to London, formed the most important part of the Modern Silk Railway, in which our country is located.”

Following completion of the projects under construction, the figure of advances will increase to 380 kilometers.

“This is a great pride for us. We will also continue our efforts to direct our people to public transportation and other clean and smart transportation solutions in Istanbul. Istanbul needs a total of 1100 kilometers of metro. On our 6,2 kilometer-long Başakşehir-Kayaşehir line; There are a total of 4 stations, namely Onurkent, City Hospital, Kayaşehir Mass Housing and Kayaşehir Square Stations. It will also pass through Çam and Sakura City Hospital and will serve 80 passengers in one direction per hour via vehicles with a design speed of 70 kilometers per hour,” added Karaismailoğlu.

He also continued: “Our metro line progressed rapidly as a result of the studies, test drives were made. We have made it ready to be offered to the service of Istanbulites. We are proud to offer a new service to Istanbulites. With the commissioning of our line; While building a fast, economical and safe transportation between the city center and Çam and Sakura City Hospital, we will provide integration through other public transportation modes. With our project; At Metrokent Station, on the Bağcılar-Kirazlı-Basakşehir-Olimpiyatköy line, as well as at Kayaşehir Station HalkalıIt will be integrated with the Istanbul Airport Metro line. With this integration, metro transportation to the airport of the region will also be provided.”
