Sydney Metro – Render of Pyrmont Scoping Report to DPE

Sydney Metro - Pyrmont-Scoping

By lodgement of the scoping report for the integrated station expansion with the Department of Planning and Environment, Sydney Metro has attained a landmark in the future of the Pyrmont Station precinct.

Being Considered as a key feature of the Pyrmont Peninsula Place Strategy, the integrated station development is key to the vision for the Pyrmont Peninsula, while boosting plans to revitalize this inner-city precinct by encouraging jobs, investment, and economic growth.

In order to completing the station, the 33-storey building above the station is due to include a mix of commercial, residential as well as retail, which help to create a vibrant new precinct where people can live, shop, work and play.

While this building is consistent with provisions in the Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012, Sydney Metro has been working closely with stakeholders to ensure this future building will provide a mix of uses to complement the local area.

Increasing public spaces with vibrant transport precincts, acting as a catalyst for renewal and better connections, a strong track record of creating and supporting new communities, improving amenity, as well as delivering new integrated station developments, are the advantages of Sydney Metro project.

It is estimated that in 2023 an Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed over station building envelope (concept development application) to be on exhibition for public comment, whereas a second Environmental Impact Statement considering the design and construction (detailed development application) of the building will follow.

Providing an opportunity to feedback about design excellence at both stages of the planning process, the Scoping Report is available here and here.
