In order to advancing the Lower Meramec Tunnel Phase 2 project, which is a part of the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, AFFHOLDER that already known as SAK Construction, LLC tunneling, is due to use the TBM named Miss Briella.

While the plan for next several weeks is, tunneling the 10.94 km (6.8-mile) long and around 61 m (200 feet) wide tunnel – in South St. Louis County, through shale and limestone at depths of 78 ft to 286 ft (24 m to 87 m), the machine will be lowered into the starter shaft and assembled before this project.

The scheduled date for completion of this project which’s value is EUR 156,77 million (USD175 million) is 2025 and the tunnel is slated to prevent wastewater overflows and improve water quality throughout the sewer district across the St. Louis area. It will take water to the Lower Meramec Treatment Plant near the confluence of the Meramec and Mississippi rivers.
