{"id":9288,"date":"2022-11-30T14:01:21","date_gmt":"2022-11-30T14:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=9288"},"modified":"2022-11-30T14:01:21","modified_gmt":"2022-11-30T14:01:21","slug":"pizzarotti-jv-receives-the-e1bn-florence-rail-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=9288","title":{"rendered":"Pizzarotti JV Receives the \u20ac1bn Florence Rail Contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A consortium of Italian contractors Pizzarotti and Saipem has awarded a contract to construct a rail bypass and high-speed rail station in Florence, Italy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Italian railway infrastructure operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfi.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI)<\/a> awarded the contract, which is said to have a value of over \u20ac1 billion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As RFI stated, the scope of work includes a 7km-long bypass \u2013 which will differentiate high-speed trains from regional services \u2013 plus two tunnels and the Firenze Belifiore underground station.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, RFI said that the two parallel tunnels will be built at an average depth of 20m, and the consortium partners will bore them by using a TBM.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The architect Foster and engineering company Ove Arup and partners have been revealed to design the station.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CEO of Pizzarotti, Carlo Luzzatto, pointed out: \u201cThis is an award of great importance, iconic and highly prestigious: a strategic work not only for the territory but for the whole country, given the criticality of the Florence railway junction.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A consortium of Italian contractors Pizzarotti and Saipem has awarded a contract to construct a rail bypass and high-speed rail station in Florence, Italy.
