{"id":8721,"date":"2022-10-26T11:54:48","date_gmt":"2022-10-26T11:54:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=8721"},"modified":"2022-10-26T11:54:48","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T11:54:48","slug":"aecom-won-a-contract-for-the-toronto-transit-commissions-byci-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=8721","title":{"rendered":"AECOM Won a Contract for the Toronto Transit Commission\u2019s BYCI Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/aecom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AECOM<\/a> (NYSE: ACM), the world\u2019s trusted infrastructure consulting company, revealed on 19 October that it has been received a contract by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to serve as owner\u2019s engineer for BYCI (the Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements) project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this role, AECOM is supposed to provide consulting services \u2013 containing the utilization of lean project delivery and constructing information modeling \u2013 through all phases of the project, which has the purpose to expand and modernize the transit hub to accommodate present and future ridership, improve accessibility and safety features, and boost the customer experience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chief executive of AECOM\u2019s Canada region, Marc Devlin stated: \u201cBloor-Yonge Station is a critical interchange \u2013 the busiest in Toronto\u2019s subway system and one of the busiest in North America \u2013 and we\u2019re thrilled to help deliver these important improvements for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also added: \u201cWe\u2019re proud to have delivered a diverse range of infrastructure projects as a trusted service provider to the TTC since 1979, including over ten years on the BYCI project, and are pleased to implement our deep understanding of their collaborative delivery approach, design standards, and operating procedures to help them see this vital project through to completion.\u201d <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bloor-Yonge Station which was built originally in 1953, is anticipated to experience a great ridership demand as per the population growth in the Toronto area and the implementation of scheduled transit expansion initiatives. The BYCI project is looking to improve service levels for TTC customers by building a new Line 2 passenger platform, expanding both Line 1 passenger platforms, improving accessibility and safety, and upgrading the concourse level, entrances, and exits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chief executive of AECOM\u2019s global Buildings and Places business, Sean Chiao mentioned: \u201cThe BYCI project is a monumental next step in improving service levels and addressing ridership growth from within and outside the City of Toronto.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe look forward to serving as the TTC\u2019s righthand advisor in this role to help them realize this exciting undertaking.
