{"id":8404,"date":"2022-09-28T06:02:35","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T06:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=8404"},"modified":"2022-09-28T06:02:35","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T06:02:35","slug":"a-significant-milestone-for-queenslands-cross-river-rail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=8404","title":{"rendered":"A Significant Milestone for Queensland\u2019s Cross River Rail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now, Brisbane\u2019s CBD is linked to the Gabba by train tracks under the Brisbane River, marking a significant milestone for the <a href=\"https:\/\/crossriverrail.qld.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cross River Rail<\/a> project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Sunday, Mark Bailey, the Transport and Main Roads\u2019 Minister announced that over 3km of tracks had been laid in each direction between the future Albert Street and Woolloongabba stations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He added: \u201cCross River Rail now has rail crossing under the river.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis is a huge milestone for the project and for South East Queensland as we continue to make progress on Queensland\u2019s biggest rail project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat we\u2019re seeing here today is the track that will move our growing population, footy fans, and future games goers once Cross River Rail is operational.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mark Bailey asserted: \u201cBetter yet, the major project continues to support good jobs right across the South East with 15 active project sites around the network.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCross River Rail is key to unlocking the bottleneck on the rail network and delivering better train services for Queenslanders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He stated that about 60 workers were involved in completing the sections of track in the twin tunnels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He continued: \u201cThe work going on beneath the CBD and the river itself to build Brisbane\u2019s new underground is incredible, and I thank all the workers involved for their efforts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAll up, crews laid about 385t of rail between the two future stations, setting about 9,400 blocks in roughly 2800m3 of concrete.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAs the first set of tracks to be complete, they also represent the start of the significant rail revolution already underway in Queensland, of which Cross River Rail is just the start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bailey mentioned: \u201cThese tracks now under the river will help create the capacity in our network and realize the benefit of other investments, including the Beerburrum to Nambour and Kuraby to Beenleigh track upgrades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also stated that crews are now beginning work on the mechanical and electrical components in the completed section, while tracks were being laid throughout the rest of the tunnels, with works anticipated to continue throughout the next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now, Brisbane\u2019s CBD is linked to the Gabba by train tracks under the Brisbane River, marking a significant milestone for the Cross River Rail project.
