{"id":7716,"date":"2022-07-03T07:56:50","date_gmt":"2022-07-03T07:56:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=7716"},"modified":"2022-07-03T07:56:50","modified_gmt":"2022-07-03T07:56:50","slug":"cross-river-rail-project-new-underground-making-tracks-in-brisbane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=7716","title":{"rendered":"Cross River Rail Project New Underground Making Tracks in Brisbane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For first time in the city\u2019s history, following the first section of rail was installed in <a href=\"https:\/\/crossriverrail.qld.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cross River Rail<\/a>\u2019s twin tunnels, rail tracks are lying deep underneath Brisbane. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Commencing from just south of the future Albert Street station, the installation process is headed towards the Brisbane River and future Woolloongabba station.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While the current advancement rate of project is at around 50-100 meters per a day, the 40-strong track installation crew will fit out the project\u2019s 5.9-kilometre twin tunnels with almost 25 kilometers of rail over the next 12 months, creating Brisbane\u2019s first below-river rail crossing in the process.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"display: block; margin:  auto;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Staff-Working-on-Cross-River-Rail.png\" alt=\"Staff Working on Cross River Rail\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to embedding into the underlying concrete slab, unlike surface tracks where rails are laid on top of sleepers and ballast (or rocks), rail in the tunnels is placed on concrete blocks. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While track installation is undergoing beneath the CBD, rail has also reached at the project\u2019s northern tunnel entrance at Bowen Hills, with fit-out set to start there later in the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For first time in the city\u2019s history, following the first section of rail was installed in Cross River Rail\u2019s twin tunnels, rail tracks are lying deep underneath Brisbane.
