{"id":7703,"date":"2022-07-02T10:52:55","date_gmt":"2022-07-02T10:52:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=7703"},"modified":"2022-07-02T10:52:55","modified_gmt":"2022-07-02T10:52:55","slug":"hs2-grants-extra-78m-to-scs-for-euston-tunnels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=7703","title":{"rendered":"HS2 Grants extra \u00a378M to SCS for Euston Tunnels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An additional \u00a378M budget has been handed to the Skanska Costain Strabag joint venture (SCS JV) by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hs2.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HS2 Ltd<\/a> for pursuing its works on the high speed two (HS2) project\u2019s tunnels into Euston.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While the total value of SCS\u2019s contract with HS2 Ltd is \u00a31.2bn, the additional spend on the Euston tunnels is in line with HS2\u2019s \u00a344.6bn budget for phase one.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The planned and agreed changes to the scope of works under the contract are the target tasks of this \u00a378M funds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Design and building of the final 26.4km of HS2\u2019s journey from Northolt via Old Oak Common to Euston (21km of tunnel) comprise the SCS JV\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once in April 2020 HS2 Ltd being given notice to proceed, CSC has made significant advancement on the project, which has included operations to assemble the first tunnel boring machine for launch this summer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin: auto;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/HS2-Euston-Station-3D-Model.jpg\" alt=\"HS2 Euston Station 3D Model\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, major earthworks and the building of major structures, such as a new rail transportation logistics hub that is going to remove one million lorry journeys from London\u2019s roads, is another breakthrough of this project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In total 3,500 people are currently working on SCS\u2019s section of the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An additional \u00a378M budget has been handed to the Skanska Costain Strabag joint venture (SCS JV) by HS2 Ltd for pursuing its works on the high speed two (HS2) project\u2019s tunnels into Euston.
