{"id":7516,"date":"2022-06-16T05:00:20","date_gmt":"2022-06-16T05:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=7516"},"modified":"2022-06-16T05:00:20","modified_gmt":"2022-06-16T05:00:20","slug":"connecting-yarra-east-main-sewer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=7516","title":{"rendered":"Connecting Yarra East Main Sewer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following 18 months, currently 3 mini tunnel boring machines (TBMs), 7 launch and retrieval sites, 24 maintenance holes and around 3km of sewer lines \u2013 the Yarra East Main Sewer (YEMS) in Bulleen is operational.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Locating beneath the Bulleen Road, YEMS is a major sewer that services thousands of homes and businesses in Melbourne\u2019s northeast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While transferring the sewer out of the way of <a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/north-east-link-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North East Link<\/a> is the largest and most complex job for the project so far, in order to construct the new sewer, 3 mini TBMs tunneled up to 20m under Bulleen, excavating 1.8km of the new sewer to the east of Bulleen Road.
