{"id":7282,"date":"2022-05-23T12:10:21","date_gmt":"2022-05-23T12:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=7282"},"modified":"2022-05-23T12:10:21","modified_gmt":"2022-05-23T12:10:21","slug":"street-running-railway-goes-underground","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=7282","title":{"rendered":"Street-Running Railway Goes Underground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stretching from the underground Lausanne-Flon terminus to Lausanne-Chauderon, Chemin de fer Lausanne-Echallens-Bercher\u2019s 1 km tunnel has been expanded by 1\u00b77 km to Union-Prilly, replacing a street-running section of single track line along Avenue d\u2019Echallens.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin: auto;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Street-Running-Railway-Train-Driver-View.jpg\" alt=\"Street Running Railway Train Driver View\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to raise capacity and reliability as well as avoid road accidents, which is a part of a program to modernize the 23\u00b76 km long meter-gauge 1\u00b75 kV DC line to form part of the canton\u2019s RER Vaud network, this double-track tunnel has been constructed.
