In order to provide the latest generation of communications-based train control and four additional trainsets for the automated rubber-typed light metro Line 1, the city of Torino\u2019s infrastructure manager Infra.To has granted a turnkey contract with \u20ac156m value to Alstom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Backing GoA4 unattended automatic operation, the CBTC is due to replace the available signaling on the 15\u00b71 km line, and will be installed on a 3\u00b74 km stretch from Fermi to Cascine Vica which is under construction.<\/p>\n

Equipping the metro\u2019s existing fleet of VAL208 cars supplied by Siemens, the Metropolis trainsets will have a total capacity of 320 passengers, with wide gangways and dedicated areas for people with reduced mobility. Features will include multimedia passenger information displays and CCTV.<\/p>\n
