{"id":3237,"date":"2021-04-12T00:12:30","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T00:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=3237"},"modified":"2021-04-12T00:12:30","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T00:12:30","slug":"elon-musks-company-reveals-first-look-at-the-las-vegas-loop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=3237","title":{"rendered":"Elon Musk\u2019s company reveals first look at the Las Vegas loop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tesla which is launched by billionaire entrepreneur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/elon-musk\">Elon Musk<\/a>, and is behind a great underground construction project in LA, gave a first look at what is being described as a \u201cpeople-mover system\u201d near the city\u2019s iconic strip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The tunnel-way, named as the \u201cVegas loop\u201d, is an approx. $52.5 million endeavor that The Boring Co. launched in 2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was anticipated to cut the 15-minute walk along the LA Boulevard resort corridor into a two-minute journey, propelled by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/tesla\">Tesla<\/a> vehicles capable of carrying as many as 16 people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, at the moment the Vegas loop features only Tesla Model X and Model 3 vehicles rather than the larger ones such as 16-person cars, with president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Steve Hill telling the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/tourism\/get-a-close-look-at-shuttle-system-40-feet-beneath-the-convention-center-2325137\/\">Las Vegas Review-Journal<\/a>: \u201cIt seems that during a pandemic is not the time to be increasing capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Various Las Vegas media entities and reporters were shown up in the project on Thursday at the expanded Las Vegas Convention Center, which featured one of the three stations designed for the loop, the Las Vegas Convention Center Central Hall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The approx. 1.5-mile tunnel which is 40 feet underground, links to two stations that are on the ground, as Tesla\u2019s self-driving vehicles carry passengers at speeds of 35 mph. The firm mentioned it would at first employ its own drivers to also operate the vehicles during trips in the event of emergencies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Many questions remain regarding the new project, such as how passengers will be able to load and unload from the vehicles and what those 16-passenger vehicles may look like.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the reporters of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, James Schaeffer, described his experience within the tunnel-way and believes that many details remained unclear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNow, we\u2019ve gotten to see a lot on this tour.
