The project is going to be prepared for the final extension of the road tunnel and is expected to contribute to the development of sustainable mobility in the heart of the Alps. The major goal of the overall project is to begin renovating the current road tunnel when the second one is finished.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Federal Roads Office has commissioned Lot 243 of the N02 Second Gotthard Tunnel. The project includes \u201cthe construction of an access tunnel, early development of the area, the excavation of a logistical underground space for a cement plant, preliminary excavations for the second tunnel and other installations for the management of materials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Work is to start in spring 2021 and last for approx. 30 months.
