Bauma, the China exhibition, has been held this week regardless of the Covid-19 crisis, one of the only main construction events to have happen since the start of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The number of official visitors have not been announced yet, but numbers will have been affected, exclusively for visitors from outside of the country. Nevertheless, photos from the event show that some stands have been very busy.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the show has been the venue for some significant product launches, with a focus on 5G technology, electric machines, aerial platforms, and remote operation. Many exhibitors were presenting their product launches live for international audiences.<\/p>\n

For instance, Sany asserted that over half of the 91 machines which were shown by them would be new models, and there was a focus on electric with 20 new electric models comprising concrete pump trucks, excavators, pavers, wide-body mining trucks, empty container handlers and reach stackers.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Zoomlion has used the show to launch its new mining machinery business and several new products, containing what it described as the \u201cworld\u2019s tallest self-propelled telescopic aerial work platform\u201d, and a range of electric machines, comprising an electric concrete mixer truck and a truck crane.<\/p>\n

It also represented \u201creal-time 5G remote control of excavators, showing how construction activities can be simplified and improved\u201d and suggested visitors the chance to use 5G technology to remotely operate a tower crane on site.<\/p>\n

On the first day of the exhibition, XCMG launched the X-GSS (XCMG-Global Service System). Designed to enhance maintenance and spare parts, XCMG-Global Service System is full life-cycle service information system.\u00a0XCMG stated the technology is going to make after sales service more intelligent, with real-time tracking, and the use of digital twins for service models and smart maintenance.<\/p>\n

Chairman of XCMG, Wang Min mentioned: \u201cThe construction machinery industry has been presented with new challenges and opportunities since the onset of the digital age.\u201d He added: \u201cTo better serve our customers and embrace these changes, XCMG looked to develop a \u2018digital service\u2019 providing more value to global customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, the company released its first 5G cabin for road machinery, giving operators real-time information through VR glasses, plus \u201cdriverless cluster construction technology\u201d, showing a self-driving road roller.<\/p>\n
