The Dubai Loop pilot phase will comprise a 6.4km underground route with four stations connecting Dubai International Financial Centre with Dubai Mall. The project will feature 3.6m-diameter tunnels designed for electric vehicle transport. The pilot route is expected to carry around 13,000 passengers\/day.<\/p>\n
Dubai Roads and Transport Authority signed an implementation agreement with The Boring Company in February 2026, following an earlier study agreement signed in 2025.<\/p>\n
The pilot scheme is estimated to cost around AED565M (US$154M), with delivery expected to take around one year following completion of design work and other preparations.<\/p>\n
The Boring Company said current mobilisation activities include finalising the design and securing the permits and no-objection certificates required before tunnelling begins.<\/p>\n
Around 25,000 precast concrete lining segments will be required for the first phase, each weighing approximately 1.8t.<\/p>\n
The wider Dubai Loop masterplan could eventually extend to around 22.2km with 19 stations, linking Dubai World Trade Centre and the financial district with Business Bay. The full system is expected to have capacity for around 30,000 passengers\/day.<\/p>\n
