{"id":20217,"date":"2026-08-10T07:20:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T07:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=20217"},"modified":"2026-08-10T07:20:38","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T07:20:38","slug":"rogfast-e02-kvitsoy-ventilation-shaft-breakthrough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=20217","title":{"rendered":"Breakthrough made on second ventilation shaft at Kvits\u00f8y"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Implenia and Stangeland Maskin have broken through on the second ventilation shaft on the Rogfast E02 Kvits\u00f8y contract.<\/p>\n<p>Breakthrough on the first shaft was completed in March this year.<\/p>\n<p>The two ventilation shafts, which are approximately 230m deep and 8.6m and 9.4m in diameter, will provide ventilation during construction of the Rogfast Tunnel and also for the completed tunnel.<\/p>\n<p>The work on the shafts was carried out in collaboration with Implenia Norwa\u2019s subcontractor \u00d6stu-Stettin.<\/p>\n<p>Stavros Adamou, plant manager for shaft E02 Rogfast at Implenia Norway, said the shaft breakthrough was an important milestone and highlighted both the progress and quality of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very pleased with the progress, and proud of the team that has delivered a precise and injury-free result,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Rogfast Tunnel in western Norway will be the world\u2019s longest and deepest underwater road tunnel at nearly 27km long. It will connect Stavanger and Haugesund, which are currently linked by ferry services, and provide the island of Kvits\u00f8y a connection with the mainland.<\/p>\n<p>The E02 Kvits\u00f8y contract is considered the most complex part of the Rogfast project and includes approximately 8.8km of 10.5m-diameter double tube, two-lane tunnel. It includes the complicated underground intersection and a ramp connection to Kvits\u00f8y.<\/p>\n<p>The package also includes 17 technical buildings, 154 emergency stations, 38 cross-passages, and five pumping stations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Implenia and Stangeland Maskin have broken through on the second ventilation shaft on the Rogfast E02 Kvits\u00f8y contract.
