Excavating Lot 1A Battipaglia\u2013Romagnano of the new railway line in Italy, the two latest TBMs for the Salerno\u2013Reggio Calabria High-Speed Line has been named as Leucosia and Ligea by public.<\/p>\n
According to Greek mythology, Leucosia and Ligea were sirens that dwelled along the shores of the Bay of Salerno, whereas Leucosia means the white one or the radiant one, while Ligea means clear-voiced or melodious.<\/p>\n
While digging of over\u00a0 than 800m-long Serra Lunga tunnel will be up to one of the two 13.46m-diameter TBMs, then it is due to continue with the 250m-long Acerra tunnel and the Petrolla tunnel, which will be more than 1.2km.
