{"id":19423,"date":"2025-08-09T12:18:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T12:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=19423"},"modified":"2025-08-09T12:18:32","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T12:18:32","slug":"sydney-water-project-advancing-tunneling-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=19423","title":{"rendered":"Sydney Water Project &#8211; Advancing Tunneling process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to constructing a tunnel almost 1.2km long, the joint venture, comprising Bouygues Construction and Robb Carr, recently commissioned TBM Jane Starkey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another160m of the pipeline will be trenched.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stretching from Thornleigh Reservoir to the south side of Zig-Zag Creek at the Thornleigh-Wahroonga Water Pumping Station, the new pipeline for Sydney Water&#8217;s construction is expected to be completed in 2027.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With 180cm diameter, this pipeline&#8217;s path will be parallel to the existing one and is due to go beneath private properties and cross local roads, between 14-38m underground.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Increasing the resilience of the local drinking water supply and catering for the expected housing growth in the area will be the aims of this project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The TBM is named after Thornleigh nurse Jane Starkey who was known for her welfare work with women and children in the early 1900s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The date of starting tunneling on the North West Wastewater Connection, another Sydney Water project was previous month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In order to constructing a tunnel almost 1.2km long, the joint venture, comprising Bouygues Construction and Robb Carr, recently commissioned TBM Jane Starkey.
