The Fangxi Reservoir Water Diversion Tunnel in Linhai City, Zhejiang Province has been completed completed.<\/p>\n
Including the construction of the water diversion tunnel, a water treatment plant, as well as a supply pipeline network, this landmark marks a major step in the city\u2019s West-to-East Water Diversion initiative.<\/p>\n
The time duration for completing the 10.78km tunnel was 21 months and involved a 240m drill-and-blast section and a 10.54km TBM section. Considering that this tunnel is passing through high-strength welded tuff, it reaches a maximum depth of nearly 800m and a minimum of 29.4m.<\/p>\n
The responsibility of\u00a0 suppling and maintaining 18in single disc cutters and 17in centre disc cutters of the 4.03m diameter TBM was up to Litian Heavy Industry.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Litian that is the TBM cutter contractor for the project, helped mitigate challenges such as extremely hard rock layers and sudden water inflow.<\/p>\n
While the maximum montly advance of this TBM was 719.21m, it reached a maximum advance of 41.82m per day.<\/p>\n
Considering that the tunnel now is completed, construction of the water pipeline is slated to be accelerated, and the scheduled date for completion of entire project is end of this year.
