{"id":19221,"date":"2025-06-30T12:28:58","date_gmt":"2025-06-30T12:28:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=19221"},"modified":"2025-06-30T12:28:58","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T12:28:58","slug":"dubai-tenders-al-maktoum-airport-substructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=19221","title":{"rendered":"Dubai tenders Al-Maktoum airport substructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to advancing the substructure works for the first phase of the expansion of Al-Maktoum International airport, Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP) has tendered five packages.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As T&amp;TI\u2019s sister publication MEED stated, the date of issuing this tender was mid-June and the closing date is August 4.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The prospective bidders are expected to include Vinci, Webuild and China State Construction Engineering Corporation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Being considered as the second of three terminals at Al-Maktoum International airport, linking to the airside with a 14-station automated people mover (APM) system, the expanded airport\u2019s West Terminal is due to be a seven-level, 800,000m2 facility with an annual capacity of 45 million passengers, according to the official description on DAEP\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The determined deadline for firms to submit their bids, by DAEP is July 15 to build the APM at Al-Maktoum airport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stretching beneath the apron of the entire airfield and the airport\u2019s terminals, this system will consist of multiple tracks, taking passengers from the terminals to the concourses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While the overall plan includes 14 stations across the airport, four underground stations is going to be built as part of the first phase.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Covering an area of 70km2 south of Dubai, this airport\u2019s construction is planned to be undertaken in three phases and will have five parallel runways, five terminal buildings and 400 aircraft gates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the world\u2019s largest passenger handling capacity of 260 million passengers a year, this will be five times the size of the existing Dubai International airport.
