“We are about to excavate the last kilometre for TBM Flavia; once completed, all excavation works on the line tunnels at the Mules construction site will be finished,” said Alessandro Marottoli, director of proceedings for the construction lot.<\/p>\n
The responsibilty of operating these three TBMs on this lot is up to a consortium of Webuild, Ghella, Cogeis and PAC.<\/p>\n
Being commissioned in May 2018, TBM Serena reached the Brenner Pass in November 2021, after digging 14km of the exploratory tunnel. While May 2019 was the date of commencing boring the eastern main tunnel by TBM Virginia, it broke through at the Italian-Austrian border in March 2023.<\/p>\n
More than 218,000 rings for the tunnels were manufactured at the Isocell plant in Hinterrigger Segment production was completed in September this year.<\/p>\n
Additionally, along with TBM Flavia, four other TBMs are currently in operation for the BBT project, which are: Ida (on the H41 Sill Gorge-Pfons construction site, in the western main tunnel moving southwards); Lilia (on the same construction site, moving southwards in the eastern main tunnel); Wilma and Olga (on the H53 Pfons-Brenner construction site moving northwards, in the western and eastern main tunnels respectively).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
