The group of five, who are the winners of the TBM-naming competition for Poland\u2019s S19 tunnel have visited construction site and the prefabrication hall in Lutory\u017c where the tunnel segments are being produced.<\/p>\n
Excavating the 2.2km tunnel along the Rzesz\u00f3w Po\u0142udnie-Babica section of the S19, the name of Karpatka for the TBM had selected by this group.<\/p>\n
While the responsibility of this competition was up to the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways and the Mostostal Warszawa and Acciona Construcci\u00f3n consortium, it attracted 1,500 entries.<\/p>\n
According to construction manager Artur Salachna: “The visit was an opportunity to share knowledge on safety and explain the complexity of the construction process related to road and tunnel infrastructure.”<\/p>\n
In order to building the two-lane tunnel, TBM Karpatka with diameter of more than 15m was commissioned in July. Additionally construction of 15 cross-passages and an emergency passage, two technical buildings as well as a tunnel management centre, will be up to Mostostal Warszawa and Acciona Construcci\u00f3n consortium.<\/p>\n
