In order to upgrading the first line of the Greater Cairo Metro, a consortium led by French Colas Rail that is a group, comprising Colas Rail, Orascom Construction and Hitachi, has concluded a contract with Egypt\u2019s National Authority for Tunnels to carry out the works, which include modernising signals, communications and central control, as well as electromechanical, electrical, overhead network and track works.<\/p>\n
With intention of ensuring the quality and continuity of service on the metro line, this upgrade will decrease maintenance and operating costs.<\/p>\n
