With completing the tunnel between Chhatarpur and Chhatarpur Mandir Station on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor, a major landmark waas chieved on its Phase 4 expansion by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).<\/p>\n
Following digging an 865m-long tunnel, the 97m-long EPBM broke through at Chhatarpur Mandir Station on the new Golden Line, whereas twin tunnels for up and down movement are being constructed on this stretch as part of the Aerocity\u2013Tughlakabad corridor. As DMRC states the scheduled date for completing the boring process of the parallel tunnel is next month.<\/p>\n
While the approximate depth of this new tunnel is 15m, around 618 rings have been installed in the tunnel, which has an inner diameter of 5.8m.<\/p>\n
Considring that several challenges, such as shifting a 66KV electrical HT line, were faced during the tunneling work, the TBM had to pass beneath a viaduct without disrupting metro train operations on the Yellow Line.<\/p>\n
Linking southern Delhi directly with the Indira Gandhi International Airport, part of Delhi Metro\u2019s Phase 4 expansion, the 24km Golden Line will have 15 stations.<\/p>\n
Construction process of\u00a0 40.1km of underground lines are being done as part of the Phase 4 work approved so far and the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor has underground sections totalling 19.34km.<\/p>\n
