As the EU\u2019s program for strategic investments in transport infrastructure, the CEF distributes funds for projects that are benefiting from the third edition (2024-2027 period) of this program and it was announced by the European Commission.<\/p>\n
The share of cross-border section of the new Lyon-Turin railway line from this program will be a contribution of EUR 700 million, whereas this is the third largest European investment among the 134 projects selected, and the first in terms of the amount financed among Italian and French projects.<\/p>\n
The advantage of this funding, together with those from France and Italy, is ensuring the financial covering necessary to continue the work.<\/p>\n
While this contribution represents part of the expected funding to continue with the work, in order to completing the co-financing of this important European infrastructure,TELT and the Italian and French states will participate in any new EU calls for tenders . TELT is also due to remain in contact with the European Commission if further funding becomes available from now until 2027.<\/p>\n
To date, 37.3 km (13.7 km for the base tunnel) of the 164 km of tunnels planned for the project have been excavated.
