{"id":16850,"date":"2024-06-01T16:39:43","date_gmt":"2024-06-01T16:39:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=16850"},"modified":"2024-06-01T16:39:43","modified_gmt":"2024-06-01T16:39:43","slug":"concentration-london-power-tunnels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=16850","title":{"rendered":"Concentration of London Power Tunnels Is On BTS June Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As part of Package 2 Tunnels and Shafts, the tunneling challenges and successes of 32.5km of tunnel and eight shafts of London Power Tunnels Phase 2 will be presented at the <a href=\"https:\/\/britishtunnelling.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BTS<\/a>\u2019s June meeting by Mark Farmer from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgrid.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Grid<\/a>, Simon Stroud from WSP, and Raj Kundan from HMJV.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to rewiring London via underground tunnels, London Power Tunnels is National Grid\u2019s \u00a31bn investment and the challenges on Phase 2 included removing a TBM from a live <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgrid.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Grid<\/a> site, mobilisation during the Covid pandemic, contamination, historic obstructions, and groundwater conditions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, the speakers are going to describe how modern methods of construction drove efficiency, and the project\u2019s use of cement-free concrete, InSAR, artificial intelligence tools, and the trial of automated ring build.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ICE in Great George St, London SW1P 3AA will host this meeting at 18:00 (BST) on June 20.
