{"id":16047,"date":"2024-04-13T06:31:45","date_gmt":"2024-04-13T06:31:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=16047"},"modified":"2024-04-13T06:31:45","modified_gmt":"2024-04-13T06:31:45","slug":"creg-explosion-proof-epbm-ready-for-palermo-catania-railway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=16047","title":{"rendered":"CREG Explosion-Proof EPBM Ready for Sicily"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CREC 1403, which is an explosion-proof EPBM for Lot 4A of the Palermo-Catania railway and was manufactured by CREG at its factory in Tianjin, China, has passed its Factory Acceptance Test.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With almost 251m length, around 2300 tonnes weight and a diameter of 9.48m, this EPBM has a double-shell shield to address the challenging disassembly of the machine in the tunnel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The energy-saving technology, an invert cast-in-place system and an intelligent maintenance system, are the advantages of this TBM, while the explosion-proof design meets ATEX and CE standards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Montestretto, Salso and Trinacria tunnels, with a maximum rock strength of 13MPa and a depth of 150m, are the contents of Lot 4A. The geology is mainly mucky clay, argillaceous clay, diatomite, diatomaceous marl, chalk and chalky clay.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin: auto; max-sidth: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/CREC-1403-TBM.jpg\" alt=\"CREC 1403 TBM\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webuildgroup.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Webuild<\/a> (leader), that is Webuild subsidiary <a href=\"https:\/\/selioverseas.com\/en\/home-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SELI Overseas<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghella.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ghella<\/a> and Ghella subsidiary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tunnelpro.it\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TunnelPro<\/a>, recieved the Lot 4A contract, for the Caltanissetta Xirbi to Nuova Enna section of the Sicilian railway in April last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), the new Palermo-Catania-Messina axis is a strategic project for Sicily and Italy and is slated to decrease travel times between Palermo and Catania by 60 minutes to two hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CREC 1403, which is an explosion-proof EPBM for Lot 4A of the Palermo-Catania railway and was manufactured by CREG at its factory in Tianjin, China, has passed its Factory Acceptance Test.
