{"id":15961,"date":"2024-04-06T06:27:31","date_gmt":"2024-04-06T06:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=15961"},"modified":"2024-04-06T06:27:31","modified_gmt":"2024-04-06T06:27:31","slug":"baltimore-tunnel-project-amtrak-appoints-delivery-partner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=15961","title":{"rendered":"Baltimore Tunnel Project &#8211; Amtrak Appoints Delivery Partner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to move forward in the Frederick Douglass Tunnel Program, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amtrak.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amtrak<\/a> has selected Advance, that is a joint venture led by <a href=https:\/\/aecom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aecom<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacobs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jacobs<\/a>, as delivery partner, which is due to manage oversight of design, construction management, contract management as well as other administrative support for the US$6bn project in Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, the team comprises of Sener, Turner &#038; Townsend, RailPros, Aldea, and Dr Sauer, as well as 22 qualified disadvantaged and small business enterprises (DBE\/SBE) that will help meet the delivery partner\u2019s 14% DBE\/SBE goal, whereas it is the first time Amtrak has used a delivery partner model.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We\u2019re excited to welcome the Advance team onboard and appreciate the vast experience they\u2019ll bring to our integrated project management team,&#8221; said Amtrak assistant vice-president Luigi Rosa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Kiewit\/JF Shea joint venture has been chosen by Amtrak in February 2024 to build the 3.2km tunnel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As the B&#038;P Tunnel Replacement Program, the Frederick Douglass Tunnel Program will modernize and transform a 6.4km section of the Northeast Corridor.
